X. Race Route
a) Marathon and half marathon starting point: Beijing Tian’anmen Square.
b) Half marathon finishing point: near the crossroad of zhichun road and kexue south road.
c) Marathon finishing point: Central Area of Beijing Olympic Park----Ceremony Square.
The route will by way of Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Haidian District, and Chaoyang District.
XI. Competition Rules
i. Race shall comply with the latest CAA Rules and Regulations.
ii. Roll-call: Register according to the events in the scheduled time.
iii. Start order: Runners shall be positioned in the order of Male/Female elite athletes, Male/Female national marathon championship athletes, general Male/Female marathon runners (positioned by registration results), half marathon runners. 20 meters shall be kept in between each of the above teams.
iv. Timing method:
The organizing committee shall provide net timing service for all runners.
Timing chip service will be available to both marathon and half marathon runners. All events of the race will be started at the same time upon the signal.
Timing chips are adopted for the race, so runners must go through all the timing blankets positioned along the route, which are respectively placed at starting point, 5km, 10km, 15km, 20km, half marathon finishing point, 25km, 30km, 35km, 40km and the finishing point. The final score will be null if any of the timing points is missed.
Timing chips are disposable, will be issued at where participants fetch race goods together with the bib numbers.
v. Close-gate time:
To ensure the race secure, the race route will be closed to traffic at successive sections during the race period. After the close time, the road sections will restore traffic. Runners failing to finish corresponding distances at stipulated closing time shall cease the race and quit the racing track to avoid danger. Runners who exit the course may get on the pick-up buses to the finish area.
Close-gate time:

vi. Marathon and half marathon runners shall keep their personal belongings according to rules. No valuables left in bags, such as mobile phones, valid documentations, cash, keys, credit card and mp3 players, etc. Runners may collect their deposited personal belongings at the designated service area before 15:00 (half marathon before 12:00) on the race day or to the organizing committee on the following day. Items will be treated as ownerless if they are not collected within 5 working days after the race.
vii. Beverage, drinking water and energy replenishment service:
a) Beverage and drinking water/water service: There will be one beverage service station for every 5 kilometers from the starting point. Drinking water/water will be served between two neighboring beverage service stations.
b) Energy replenishment service: There will be 2 energy replenishment service stations at 27.5km, 32.5km, 37.5km point.
viii. For detailed information on other requirements and arrangements of the competition, please consult the Runners Guide issued before the race.
ix. Medical Aid
a) The organizing committee will set up a medical aid post every 5 kilometers along the marathon route, with apparent signs 50 meters ahead of the posts. Ambulances will follow the runners on the route.
b) The organizing committee will assign one volunteer every 100 meters along the route to assist medical aid and maintain race order. Runners may seek help with them for any problems.
x. Doping test will be conducted according to rules of the IAAF.
XII. Prizes
i. Marathon
a) Ranking award (in U.S. dollars):
Top 8 of the male and female athletes will be awarded with ranking bonus respectively (see the following chart)

l Prize will provide based on the results required.
b) Record award (in U.S. dollars): The award is issued to runners for their highest performance, non-accumulative:
Male: who gets the results within 2:07:16 (not including 2:07:16) and the first place will be awarded 40000 USD.
Female: who gets the results within 2:19:39 (not including 2:19:39 ) and the first place will be awarded 40000 USD.
Note: The above prizes are subject to 20 percent personal income tax.
c) Each of the top 3 male and female runners will be awarded with a trophy and a medal.
d) All runners completing the whole course in stipulated time will be awarded with plastic blanket and souvenir medal, etc.
e) Race T-shirt, race bags, bib numbers, timing chip and runners guide will be given to runners before the race starts.
Note: Marathon runners can check your results and print your certificate through www.beijing-marathon.com after the race.
ii. Half marathon
a) Race T-shirt, race bags, bib numbers, timing chip and runners guide will be given out to all runners before the race starts.

XIII. Participation Requirement
i. Age requirements:
a) Marathon participants shall be over 20 years old (born before October 20, 1994).
b) Half Marathon participants shall be over 16 years old (born before October 20, 1998).
Participants must enroll with valid credentials, such as passports, in line with age requirements for respective contests.
Notes: Elite foreign runners and CAA registered athletes may comply with age requirements of the IAAF.
ii. Requirements for runners’ physical conditions:
Marathon is an athletic sport of high load and great intensity over long distances. It is also a high risk athletic sport. Thus, it raises high demands on participant physical conditions. Participants should have good health and long-term running or training experiences. Participants may choose among the contests of Marathon, Half Marathon, according to their own physical conditions and actual abilities.
Patients suffering from the following diseases shall not take part in the contest:
a) Congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;
b) Hyper tension and cranial vascular disease;
c) Myocarditis and other heart diseases;
d) Coronary artery disease and serious cardiac arrhythmia;
e) Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia diabetics;
f) Patients of other diseases unfit for sports.;
g) Had a cold two weeks ago;
h) Pregnant.
iii. Registration and payment:
a) The race will enroll 30,000 runners in all, including 26,000 for marathon, 4,000 for half marathon.
b) All runners who finished pre-registration and got the qualification of payment shall pay the fees on time, detailed information please check the “registration payment notice” on the website.
c) Race number checking online will come soon.
d) Race goods pick-up: please follow closely with the notice update on the website.
iv. Registration fee:
USD 100per person for marathon.
USD 80 per person for half marathon.
The organizing committee reserves the right to accept or refuse registration according to the status of enrollment. Upon confirmation, registration fee is nonrefundable.
XIV. Punishment
Video surveillance will be carried out by the organizing committee during the entire race route. Runners will be disqualified or barred for life from the Beijing Marathon, plus additional penalties from CAA if committing the followings in some degree:
i. False age or identification provided on registration.
ii. One runner carries two and above timing chips in the race (including male runners carry that of female and vice versa).
iii. Start racing in the wrong order or from the wrong position.
iv. Start racing at the set time, or jump the gun.
v. Occupy course after the route closing time.
vi. Take a shortcut or jump into the race from halfway.
vii. Refuse to get the souvenir by passing the finish line again as required.
viii. Unable to complete the race but palm off the finish line for souvenirs.
ix. Finishing the race without 2 bib numbers.
x. Forged bib numbers, using other races’ bib numbers or the former bib numbers of Beijing Marathon, substituted runners.
xi. Refuse to obey direction from race staffs.
xii. Uncivilized behaviors (e.g. open defecation, drop litter carelessly etc. ).
xiii. Other deregulated behaviors.
Runners must be responsible for any results due to provide false information on registration or be substituted by others after the registration payment.
XV. Insurance
The organizer will insure all runners and staffs with life accident insurance. Specifications of Life Accident Insurance are available for consulting at Beijing Marathon website before the race.
